Although it’s becoming a mainstream celebration in Australia, my knowledge of Halloween has been greatly limited to what I’ve seen in movies. Previous to this trip, I had been to one Halloween party as a kid where I chose to dress up as a pink fairy (yes, really).
However, even with my lack of insight into the holiday, I have longed to experience a true Halloween in America.
My friends and I had planned a holiday to the US already, though we had some dates left to fill. We had plans to be in Los Angeles until October 27 and Halloween day (October 31) booked at Disneyland Resort. With only a few days to spare, we didn’t want to waste too much time on travel, so limited our search to destinations within a 2 hour flight.
When looking up the “What’s on” calendar for Las Vegas, my friend Meghan saw that Calvin Harris was scheduled to play a “Halloweekend” show on Friday the 28th. She is (mildly) obsessed with Calvin Harris so we locked in Thursday October 27 – Sunday October 30 for our visit to Sin City.
As I had never been to Las Vegas, I was excited to visit the famous Strip. It ended up being an expensive weekend for me, though not due the usual culprits of gambling or alcohol. Instead, my iPhone stopped charging and I was up for the cost of a brand new phone.
I hope you enjoy reading my first Passport of Wanderlust trip report.
